The Adult Foster Care (AFC) program is beneficial for those who need assistance with Activities of Daily Living (I/ADL). These can include but are not limited to bathing, dressing, medication management, transportation, behavioral management and shopping. This federally funded program is an extended benefit for MassHealth members who are over 16 years old and disabled. Caregivers are those who live in the same household and care for members 24 hours a day. Because it can be financially challenging the monthly stipend provided by the Adult Foster Care program is tax-exempt.
